Montanna's first Christmas
Our Christmas was very relaxed and cozy this year. We were home by ourselves and celebrating together as a family. Montanna woke up at about 6:30 because she was so excited but we gave her some food and put her back to bed. She was a good girl and went right back to sleep until about 8:30. Once she got up for the second time we put her in bed with us and read the Christmas Story from the Bible. Adam read the story while Montanna and I listened. Then.... we went downstairs where I made Orange Julius and eggs and toast for the dad and peaches, mangoes, and baby cereal for the girl. I had a cup of hot chocolate. We turned on the heat since our house said 63 degrees and snuggled on the couch to talk and watch Montanna play. ( We have a heater in Montanna's room so her room was much warmer than 63 degrees.)
Then it was time to open presents. It was so fun to watch Montanna unwrap her gifts. All she wanted to do was eat and play with the paper. She loved her toys and books, but I really think she had more fun with the boxes and paper than anything else that day. We had rented some old movies and watched Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile. We ate a dinner of roast, Grandma Baa's potatoes, rolls, and salad. I made enough for about 6 people and so we had lots of leftovers. It was a fun day.

Making Butter Mints
I promise, I am going to get some Christmas pictures up here soon, but in the meantime, I will post some pictures of my first time ever making Butter Mints. I thought it was going to be so hard, and maybe it just seemed easy because Corrine really knows what she is doing when it comes to candy making, but it was a lot of fun. I thought about trying to make a batch back here in Phoenix and just stretching it over my open deep freezer, but ran out of time. It is probably better that way because I know I would have eaten way too many. They are too good.

Adventures of Seven Falls
The reason I called this the Adventures of Seven Falls is just because of how cold it was. It was so beautiful and fun to look at, but I don't know what we were thinking taking a 6 month old out into negative 5 degree weather. Montanna loved it for a little while until we realized that her little feet were sticking out and then the rearranging made her mad. It was a night of fun, colors, water, ice, shopping, and baby crying.

Early Christmas in Colorado
Since Adam has to work the days before and after Christmas we decided to go up to Colorado for a few days the week before to spend time with his family in their beautiful new house. The weather was perfect. It was sunny and cold. I loved it! We ate, played games, watched movies, made candy, looked at the seven falls, and much more. We packed as much as we could into those few days. Montanna loved Colorado and can't wait to go back and visit Gran, Grandad, and Aunt Britney. She also wanted me to let everyone know that they are welcome here whenever they can come. We love having visitors!

It's Dinner Time!!!
Montanna has been eating "real" food for the last couple weeks and I finally got the camera out and took a couple pictures. She barely fits into her highchair, but she looks so adorable in it. She loves eating. In these pictures Adam is feeding her carrots mixed with applesauce. As you can tell, she loves it. So far she has tried:
-butternut squash
-applesauce
-yams
-broccoli
-carrots
-avacado
-bananas
-peaches
I have been making the baby food myself with the help from my Vita Mix. It has made making baby food so easy. I mix up a batch and then freeze it in ice cube trays and then dump the ice cube trays into a Tupperware container where it can stay in the freezer for up to six weeks! I know that it is saving us a ton of money and it is fun for me to try new recipes to see if I can make Montanna a more adventurous eater than both Adam and I.
Favorite? So far I think it would have to be canned peaches. I couldn't feed them to her fast enough.

Playtime with new toys!
Montanna's cousin Darby is almost exactly 2 years older than her and lucky for Montanna, Darby had all kinds of toys. So, we ended up making our house Baby Central so Montanna can be entertained 24/7. She loves the new fun things to play with even though she can't quite figure out how to work the Johnny Jump Up. Thank you Darby, for letting Montanna borrow your fun toys!

Saturday Drive

On Adam's day off, the weekend before Thanksgiving, we went on a drive up through Buckeye and around the mountains through Surprise and back again. It was a pretty drive and Montanna was really good. In these pictures we stopped for a few minutes to feed Montanna and took some pictures. It doesn't really look like Arizona in these pics. Apart from having a little bit of car trouble, it was a perfect day.
