Bundling up for our daily walks

Montanna and I go for walks with Torey and Parley Tryon every weekday. Arizona is definitely not known for the crisp mornings, but this time of year it does get a little bit chilly. So, I have to make sure my girl is nice and warm, right? Especially since she is just sitting in the stroller and I'm doing the walking. We do have a lot of fun though. Montanna loves looking at everything toward the beginning of our walks and then by the time we get home she is fast asleep. It gets us out of bed and ready for each day and makesw me feel like we've accomplished something by the time we get back at 8:00 am.

Playing dress up

One of my favorite things about having a little girl is being able to dress her up in such cute little outfits all the time. As I have said before, Montanna has been given so many clothes by friends and neighbors and so it is so fun to go to her closet each day and pick out a sweet little outfit. Sometimes we are lucky enough to have to go through 2 or 3 outfits! There is a bright side to everything. Here are some of my favorites from this past week.

Food Storage

I have been thinking a lot about food storage lately. It hasn't ever been something I have thought much about until now. I don't know if this is because I am a stay at home mom and have time to think about it or because I feel the need to make sure my baby and husband have everything they need in case of an emergency. I was so excited when I went to Fry's Marketplace and found out they were having their case lot sale. This was a great way to jump start my almost nonexistent food storage. One of the things I was most excited about was the spaghetti sauce for .77 cents and the tomato sauce for .15 cents. I paid $58 and saved $80! Here is what I bought:

-27 cans spaghetti sauce
-12 cans green beans
-12 cans corn
-12 cans olives
-48 cans tomato sauce
-8 cans black beans
-8 cans garbanzo beans
-6 boxes macaroni and cheese

It's definitely not everything we need, but it is a good start. My new goal is to build up our food storage to where I can feel comfortable about our safety and nutrition if we ever needed to use it.

** Fry's is also taking all competitor's coupons until Oct. 28th**

Pretty in Pink

Montanna and I both love hand me downs and we are so grateful for them. She gets so many cute clothes from other kids that have outgrown them. We have several people who are looking out for us. Thank you! This is an adorable little outfit that looked so cute on her, but she hated it. She was doing well when I took the pictures, but she cried through most of church and was just fine as soon as we got home and took the scratchy dress off.

Making Strawberry Jam

Well, yesterday I decided to make strawberry jam because I went to the store and saw that there were 4 baskets of strawberries for $5. This was perfect for a batch of jam. Adam informed me that we only eat raspberry jam, but I decided to make the strawberry jam anyways. He likes his jam cooked and sweet and so I made it that way for him. He told me that jam is supposed to be bad for you. Maybe it is... It turned out really good and would probably make really good vanilla ice cream topping too.

When I was getting ready to clean and prepare the strawberries, I filled my sink with what I thought was cold water until I put my hand in it. Arizona just doesn't have any cool water in the summertime and unfortunately it is still summer here. I had to fill the water with ice cubes to keep the strawberries nice and fresh. This probably wasn't necessary since I was making jam, but it made me feel better.

Here is a picture of my pretty strawberries floating with the ice cubes.

PS: It is supposed to be a high of 77 degrees tomorrow! Whoo Hoo!!!
